Urban Recipe Moves To New Space

We are pleased to share that Urban Recipe has acquired a new, permanent location! We want to send a special thanks to Bill Bolling, founder of the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Board Chair for Food Well Alliance, and longtime supporter of Urban Recipe, for helping us find a space that positions us to expand our impact while ensuring we continue to safely and effectively support our co-op members and partners. 

Starting this month, you’ll find us working alongside co-op members, volunteers and partners  at 970 Jefferson Street NW Atlanta, GA 30318. This may be a familiar spot for some of you as it is the former site of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. As you might imagine, the space is already outfitted with all that we need to expand operations, including an enormous walk-in refrigerator and freezer. We are overjoyed to have found this space!

We’ve resumed operations and are now able to unload food from a bigger truck in the pull-in truck bay, a welcome upgrade to our trek from the street! And, since our new space is approximately 20,000 square feet, we have welcomed over 50 Hands on Atlanta volunteers and 20 co-op members who have helped prepare and distribute food packages in compliance with CDC social distancing guidelines. The new space is already helping us stay safe and allowing us to efficiently process more food to more families in a way that continues to stay true to the cooperative process that has been a hallmark of Urban Recipe. 

Although renovations to the space begin soon, we are ready for volunteers and have resumed operations. Come join us and follow along as we make 970 Jefferson home to Urban Recipe Co-ops and partners; the upcoming progress should be fun to watch.
